Announced in 2018 as a Windows 10 exclusive, it has now been confirmed that Gears Tactics will be coming to Xbox consoles, too, we’re just not sure which one or when.
Gears Tactics is an upcoming, XCOM-esque, tactical offshoot of the Gears of War series, set 12 years before the first Gears of War game, with an entirely new team. It employs turn-based gameplay and a top-down perspective. We haven’t heard much about it since its reveal at E3 2018.
Well, thanks to Twitter, we now know it’s being developed by Splash Damage (the studio behind Gears of War 4) and it will be coming to Xbox consoles as well as PC.

Whether that means it’s coming to Xbox One or the upcoming Scarlett, who knows. Maybe both? Rod Fergusson is Studio Head at The Coalition, the games development studio responsible for Gears of War for Xbox Game Studios.
Gears Tactics is set for release some time this year, although it’s unclear if it will release on PC and console at the same time.
