Yesterday, former Twitch celebrity Tyler “Ninja” Blevins took to Twitter to call out the streaming service for letting a porn stream be featured as one of the top recommended from his offline channel.
Ever since Ninja left Twitch to expand his horizons with Mixer, Twitch has been using his account as a promotion page for other channels – clingy much? In his Tweet, Ninja explains that other streamers who choose to leave the platform don’t go through the same thing. Offline channels typically feature a short text description about the channel and nothing extra. Additionally, Ninja states that he had no immediate authority in the situation at hand, which makes matters worse.

Twitch CEO Emmett Shear has posted a public apology to Ninja on Twitter, and the company has since reverted Ninja’s channel back to the original format and suspended the porn account. However, Emmett denies that Ninja’s channel is the only one being used for promotion, as the company is experimenting with a new recommendation feature that should span across the entire platform – including offline channels. Despite that, it’s hard not to think that the company wasn’t leeching off of his brand just a bit (and it’s not even the first time Twitch has hosted porn content by mistake).
4/ On a more personal note, I apologize want to apologize directly to @ninja that this happened. It wasn’t our intent, but it should not have happened. No excuses.

And here we thought that Ninja/Twitch would be the smoothest breakup in gaming history.
