Get in a game of browser Diablo while you can

Ever wanted to feign productivity while also rescuing the bedeviled town of Tristram from Diablo the Lord of Terror? You’re in luck, because you can now play the original 1996 Diablo straight from your browser (until Blizzard notices, but probably still even then).

Blizzard pretty much abandoned Diablo after its shiny, evil children were spawned, leaving it to fester without patches or support since 2001. However, after the entire source code was carelessly leaked, a GitHub project called Devilution was created, by a fan, to serve as a base for Diablo modders to work from. One such mod lets you play Diablo in your browser.

You have to own either the original or have purchased it from somewhere, like GOG.com, for the browser version to work, and they point people in this direction from the landing page, so they’re not advocating piracy… technically. It all really depends how Blizzard feels about it.

So far, they don’t seem to care, but you never know. Anyway, with all those clicks, you’ll sound super productive to all your office colleagues and not suspiciously so at all.
