The company’s entire network infrastructure has been encrypted, City Power confirmed this morning, with local customers unable to purchase electricity online until the problem is resolved. Awkward.

According to users on Twitter, the website has been out since sometime yesterday. I dunno how much time it takes to fix a system intrusion like this, but assuming it’s the same ICT department whose incompetence let this even happen, I’m guessing Joburg people using City Power’s grid should probably buy some extra batteries, canned food, and ammo, and get ready for the apocalypse. I mean, this is more or less exactly how The Division 2 started.
