Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order

Sorry, you can’t dismember humanoids in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order

So, pretty much like all the other Star Wars franchise games that have ever existed. Dismemberment of fleshy things, while included in the films and TV series, has never been a big feature of the games, as far as I can recall, so I’m not sure why people are complaining about it not being possible in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

Senior designer at Respawn, Justin Perez, recently explained to IGN that dismembering fleshy beings is not a thing you can do in the upcoming Fallen Order. You can, however, go wild on the droids and spiders. Before everyone cries DISNEY, this actually fits with existing Lucas Arts rules, apparently, along with rarely showing blood and hiding the actual cut in decapitation scenes. Star Wars has never been a gore-fest. Think of the children.

The logic is that lightsabers cauterise wounds immediately, so blood would be minimal. I have to assume similar logic is applied for dismemberment in that the cauterisation could technically also fuse limbs back to the body in circumstances where dismemberment isn’t required by the plot.

It seems a little silly to get upset about something that isn’t actually a precedent for Star Wars games. It doesn’t count if you had to use a mod.
