Ten more 16-bit classics have been revealed for the Sega Mega Drive Mini

Sega’s take on Nintendo’s wildly popular (but mildly overrated, I reckon) NES and SNES mini consoles, the Sega Mega Drive Mini, will be with us in a matter of months, with the console holder recently revealing a 19 September 2019 release date for the little black plastic box of retro goodness. With a closed system like this, the roster of onboard games makes or breaks it, so to make sure gamers are queuing come launch day, Sega has shown off ten more of the forty titles which will be included on the console.

And here they are:

  • Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle
  • Beyond Oasis
  • Ghouls ‘n Ghosts
  • Golden Axe
  • Mega Man: The Wily Wars
  • Phantasy Star 4: The End of the Millennium
  • Sonic the Hedgehog Spinball
  • Street Fighter 2: Special Champion Edition
  • Vectorman
  • Wonder Boy in Monster World

There are some genuine classics on that list, and you can be sure that retro gamers will be frothing at the mouth about this one. Get your rose tinted glasses ready, though, folks – some of this stuff will have aged badly.

If you haven’t been following the story so far, perhaps you’d like a quick look at the rest of the games which have been announced thus far.

AND HERE THEY ARE:

  • Altered Beast
  • Castlevania Bloodlines
  • Comix Zone
  • Castle of Illusion
  • Contra: Hard Cops
  • Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine
  • Sonic The Hedgehog
  • Sonic the Hedgehog 2
  • Ecco the Dolphin
  • Earthworm Jim
  • Gunstar Heroes
  • Shining Force
  • Space Harrier II
  • Super Fantasy Zone
  • Shinobi 3
  • Streets of Rage 2
  • ToeJam & Earl
  • Thunder Force 3
  • World of Illusion
  • Landstalker

Shaping up nicely, I’d say.
