Boston Dynamics is here to remind us that robots are our friends, so ignore that thing about how we’re teaching them the most efficient strategies to defeat humanity, and look at these SpotMinis pulling a truck. Much assistance, so strength, wow.
Each little SpotMini weighs about 30kg, similar to your average boxer dog, and can support about 14kg of payload. Unlike boxers, they have modular heads that can be swapped according to requirement, such as a robot arm or extra cameras, like you can see on the two lead bots in the video.
With their grabby arm and 3D vision system, SpotMinis are not foxed by stairs or doors and are comfortable operating in homes and offices. Essentially, nowhere is safe, so be nice and let them pull your stuff every now and then.
Personally, I would love one of these. I would call him Steve; he could carry all the stuff that doesn’t fit in my girl pockets and tase anyone that bothers me in the street. Living. The. Dream.
The Boston Dynamics SpotMini will actually be available to purchase soon, for an undisclosed, probably exorbitant, amount.
