Nokia's iconic Snake game is available to play in Google Maps for April Fools

Get in on the retro-gaming action with Snake for Google Maps

Google has gifted us, on this day of April Fools, with Snake for Google Maps. For a limited time only, you can play Nokia’s iconic boredom-buster in Android and iOS versions of the Google Maps app. You can also play it on your PC at this dedicated site. So nobody has to feel left out.

The Google Maps version has you scooting around pixelacious Cairo, São Paulo, London, Sydney, San Francisco, Tokyo, or the world. This time, instead of a dot-guzzling snake, you’re a hungry hungry train, collecting commuters, local delicacies, and famous landmarks.

I say “collecting”, but you could just as easily be mowing these things down on the planet-wide death rampage of a sentient monorail, hell-bent on obliterating all signs of humanity, and the very beings that foolishly granted it the autonomy to think, feel, and hate.

Play it your way.

Just open Google Maps, open the left sidebar menu, and tap Play Snake. Go on, it’s Monday morning, nobody thinks you’re working anyway.

Snake will be available in the Google Maps app for about a week.
