One is a free-to-play, battle royale and the other is a not-free-at-all, VR action adventure, but they both have the word Apex in the title so I can see how you might get confused.

A few days ago, Andreas from Fast Travel Games, developer and publisher of Apex Construct, created a Reddit post about an amusing case of misidentification. I mean, funny for them, not so much the poor fools involved. Turns out they’ve seen a massive upswing in Steam site visits since Apex Legends was released on 4 February. Apex Construct was released on 20 March 2018. They have also “sold more units of Apex Construct in China the last seven days than during ALL of 2018”. The money will, more than likely, be refunded, but still.
These purchases have also led to a number of negative reviews by disappointed players in China. We know they are negative because of the angry red thumbs down, but they are all written in simplified Chinese, and Google translate was being less than helpful, so we can only guess at the content. However, by the number of people that found these reviews funny, I like to assume that they were mocked by those that can actually read Chinese.
While the word “Apex” does appear in both titles, and the logos are kinda similar, these people still paid money for a free-to-play game that isn’t even available on Steam. Champions.
