According to Nintendo Everything, and a Japanese Nikkei report they got translated by three different translators, there may be an even more portable Switch available later this year. Maybe.
As of 31 December 2018, the Switch had sold 32.27 million units worldwide and was the best-selling console for its first year of existence. It’s kinda popular. Just apparently not enough, as Nintendo cut their sales forecasts by 20% for this fiscal year. So, in an effort to catch all the consumers (’cause you gotta) Nintendo may be offering up a smaller, less expensive version of the Switch, dedicated to portability. So a fancy Game Boy Advance?
An excerpt from the translated report suggests that Nintendo will be “miniaturizing the console with portability and playing outdoors in mind, as well as cutting features to reduce the price and expand the userbase.” There has already been some speculation as to what features will be cut. Removing the console dock seems fairly likely and maybe the cartridge slot too, since Nintendo probably wants to promote downloading content from its online service. What do you think they’re getting rid of?
Are you looking forward to a sleeker Switch? Let’s all ramble about stuff that may not even be happening!
