New Battlefield V teaser confirms the game’s World War 2 setting

“V” for “5” or “V” for “victory” or “V” for “Vohaul’s Re-Revenge”? It’s a mix of the first two, apparently, but I dunno that anybody else besides me was holding out for that Space Quest crossover event anyway.

A new Battlefield V teaser trailer dropped in the night, and although it doesn’t tell us very much about the game, it does corroborate previous speculation that the series is going back to World War 2. Or forward, if we’re counting from Battlefield One. These timelines are complicated.

Did you miss it? I’m not a goggles-through-history expert either so that’s not exactly useful information, but let’s examine those icons at the top of the screen.

That’s a British Union Jack, obviously, and a German Balkenkreuz, the latter of which was used by the Wehrmacht from 1935 until – you guessed it – the end of World War 2.

So, probably not that Space Quest crossover event. I’m kind of disappointed.
