Amazon is negotiating to save The Expanse from exile in The Belt

Less than two weeks since SyFy decided to drop its other cult sci-fi show The Expanse, prompting inevitable controversy and an also inevitable petition, Amazon Studios is apparently now in talks to produce a fourth season.

According to sources at Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter, Amazon Studios – which already has streaming rights to the show in North America – is considering a new deal with The Expanse producer Alcon Television Group. Both companies have declined to comment on the matter, but not denying it is more or less exactly the same as confirming it. Except when it isn’t.

What could complicate things, however, is that Amazon arch-enemy Netflix has streaming rights to the show everywhere else, meaning that a subsequent season could be limited to some markets only. Cue more controversy and petitions, I suppose, or perhaps an uneasy truce between the two colonies networks. Which seems sort of appropriate.
