The world, and continent of Tyria, is a vast place. The geography ranges from high mountains to lava-filled volcanoes, deep undersea trenches to thick forests. The locations in an MMO need to be interesting, visually distinct, and enticing to explore, since players are going to be spending a lot of time in them.
Guild Wars 2 facilitates exploration by providing rewards for finding all the Points of Interest, Renown Hearts, and Asura Waygates in a zone. These rewards are scaled to your level, so it’s worthwhile to go back to lower-level areas you skipped or never found. Thanks to the dynamic level scaling, a zone remains engaging even if you’re higher than its recommended level. There are also many secrets to find, hidden areas, tricky jumping puzzles, and loot chests.
